Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of approximately 115 plant-derived ‘Phyto cannabinoids’ that naturally occur in the hemp or cannabis plants. CBD happens to be the most abundant of these cannabinoids.

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds. They are found naturally in seeds, stalk, and flowers of cannabis plants (photo cannabinoids) and in our body (endocannabinoids).

Terpenes are the unsaturated hydrocarbons found in essential oils of plants that make up the scent and flavor of a plant.

Entourage effect is the term used to describe how multiple cannabinoids and terpenes from a hemp or cannabis plant interact with the body to produce an altogether stronger response than any one of the parts acting alone. In other words, it's not dissimilar when people say 1+1=3.

Despite their similar chemical structures, CBD and THC don’t have the same effects. CBD is a non-psychoactive or non-intoxicating compound and doesn’t produce the ‘high’ associated with THC.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is a crystalline compound that is the main active ingredient in cannabis causing the ‘high’ or psychoactive feeling.

With the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, zero THC CBD is legal in most states, but you’ll want to check the regulations for your state.

Full spectrum means that the CBD oil or contains all the cannabinoids that are naturally occurring in the cannabis plant. Quality full-spectrum CBD products are typically high in CBD, with smaller amounts of minor cannabinoids, and very low in THC (less than 0.3%). Our premium CBD products are full-spectrum because we use the entire plant in production.

Broad-spectrum CBD contains cannabidiol and other compounds within the plant, but lacks THC, which is completely removed after the initial extraction. Because broad-spectrum oil contains multiple cannabinoids, it also produces the “entourage effect,” but without the THC.

CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD, made by pulling it from its natural environment and removing it from all other ingredients. The advantage of using CBD isolate over other formats is the highest concentration of CBD per serving. Isolates are usually +98% pure, meaning that one gram of isolate powder carries over 980 mg of CBD, but there are no other cannabinoids or THC, so it does not deliver the entourage effect.

Some CBD oils are made from parts of the plant, but exclude the flower so they don’t contain a full spectrum of terpenes and cannabinoids. CBD oil that is extracted from the full plant including the flower is full-spectrum, contains a wide range of terpenes and cannabinoids and thus are considered flower-derived.

Long story short, start low and go slow. Each individual’s experience can be influenced by several factors like age, diet, weight, physical activity, and the body’s ability to absorb its components. Though there is no definite dosing scale, we recommend starting with this scale below and altering it as needed to fit your needs. Low Strength- 1mg per 10 lbs. Medium Strength- 3mg per 10 lbs. High Strength- 6mg per 10 lbs. Here’s a formula you can use: [Weight in pounds] ÷ [10] x [desired strength recommendation, low recommended dose 1mg] = total mg dose

All of our products come in various milligrams, so we’ve put together an easy guide to dosing our products below. Depending on several factors, like age, diet, weight, and physical activity, CBD oil is known to take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to start feeling effects. For maximum effects follow these tips: Apply the desired dose of CBD oil under your tongue and allow at least 1.5 minutes for the capillary-rich areas along your cheek and gums to absorb the oil into your bloodstream. You can increase absorption by swishing the oil around in your mouth vigorously, boosting the surface contact between your capillaries and the oil. These components absorb well with fatty foods so have a small snack or sweet (in moderation of course) after swallowing your oil. If you are not a fan of the bold cannabis flavor, you can always add drops to your favorite food or snack. If you have questions or concerns, our team is here to help, but we always recommend consulting your physician before taking CBD oil, especially if you take other medications.

A Certificate of Analysis or COA provides more detailed information about the contents of a product including quality, quantity, and purity of the product. It details the cannabinoid, terpene and contaminant profile of the CBD oil. It is important that the COA comes from an independent and trusted third party.

Labeling alone is not reliable. Some claims on labels may be vague or misleading. A COA provides transparency to confirm what is (and is not) contained in the product.

The company selling the product should have it clearly marked with a lot or batch number and offer a link to where you can easily find a COA for the product. Once you have located the COA, check that the company that performed the test is not the same company selling the product. An independent third-party should help remove any bias. An important page is the cannabinoid profile, listing the cannabinoids detected and their concentration. This page will also show the THC level if it is a full-spectrum product, this must be lower than .3% in order to be legal. It is also important to know what is not in your CBD oil. Look to the Heavy Metal, Pesticide and Solvent sections to see what levels, if any, are contained in the product. It should show actual levels as well as acceptable ranges.

Good Agricultural Processes (GAP) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) are a set of guidelines put forth by regulatory agencies that control the authorization and licensing of manufactured and agricultural goods. These regulations help ensure product consistency from batch to batch and prevent harm from coming to an end user. These guidelines also address personnel training, inspections and working conditions.
